Aerial Fabric Acrobatics

faq and resources

what to wear?

A leotard is great because it covers your back. Leggings, foot less tights or Yoga pants will protect your legs. A shirt that covers your armpits is not essential, but good to have with you. Loose clothing or shorts are not ideal. Please wear no jewelry and tie your hair back so it does not get in your way. Long finger nails are not recommended.

is experience necessary?

No. We work with all skill levels, all age levels from 8 to 80 and all levels of strength and flexibility. Our goal is to build on your strengths and for you to have fun as you learn!

how should I prepare?

We sell a Conditioning Companion 1 and 2 that will help you prepare for class. It will introduce you to building the muscles you will need for the most success. However, you can also prepare by doing push-ups and sit-ups and some stretching at home.

can I bring friends?

Yes! By all means, class is more fun when you are learning with a friend.

do I have to be flexible and strong?

No. We will work to build your strength and flexibility. The Conditioning Companion is a good way to build both but not essential.

what if I miss a class?

Not a problem. If you pay for the class package it does not expire. Our classes are structured to be as one-on-one as possible so you are always welcome even if you have to miss a few classes.

what is Feldenkrais?

It is a movement awareness system developed by Moishe Feldenkrais who was a physicist. We find it helps our students use their bodies more efficiently. The Feldenkrais we use is very amended, but we find it helps balance the muscles you are using on the fabric to prevent injury and create more success.

what if I’m afraid of heights?

Let us know if you have a fear of heights, but you do not have to be very far off the floor to learn fabric. We start with simple movements and you will go as high as you are comfortable.

do I have to go upside down?

No, but please let us know if you have a problem turning upside down. There are many poses that do not require spinning or upside down movement.

how do I fit in if I’ve already studied aerial fabric?

Please let us know who you have learned from and what poses and locks you can do. We will work with you to place you in the most appropriate level for your skills.

am I too old?

No. You can learn fabric at any age and you do not have to feel age is a barrier at all.

what if I don’t have the ideal body type?

Don't worry! We have performers of all shapes and sizes. Your body type does not determine your ability to learn. Plus, it is easier to learn if you are not limited to believing that there is an ideal body type for fabric

can my kids do it?

Yes, join us at Dardano's for our Young Aerialists program. Your child ideally needs to be 10 years, however if they are eight years they can join class with instructor approval. We STRONGLY encourage that your child bring a friend. We also find it works if parents join their child and learn together. Class etiquette for children: no horseplay, listen to the teacher, don't goof around on apparatus, take turns, take it slow, pay attention, and have fun!
